It’s no secret that a lot of Subaru vehicle owners also tend to be dog-lovers. After all, there aren’t many better feelings in the world than loading up your Subaru car with your family, camping gear, and your furry friend to hit up a campground in Wisconsin for the weekend. However, the Subaru brand does much more for dogs than feature them in its commercials, as its Subaru Loves Pets initiative is a long-running charity that helps out dogs around the country.
As a part of its larger Love Promise charity initiative, Subaru Loves Pets has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to the ASPCA to assist in animal rescues. Just this month, the automaker gave $285,000 to support 165 fee-waived adoption events throughout the country, involving 110 animal welfare organization and 110 Subaru dealerships, including our Subaru dealership near Wheaton, IL.
Another large contribution of $150,000 was made to ASPCA to 27 animal welfare organizations that transport dogs from overcrowded shelters to areas where homeless pets have a better chance to get adopted. One example of this is chihuahuas that are overrunning Southern California animal shelters are brought to Utah, where there are more people looking to adopt. To date, the automaker estimates that it has saved more than 21,250 animals thanks to this effort.
